About the Forum

iGaming Education Forum 2016


The iGaming Education Forum, which will take place during the SiGMA Conference on the 16th, 17th & 18th November, aims to bring together international Gaming companies of all sizes and individuals new to the industry, to participate in intensive training workshops. It is designed to give each participant a unique training package delivered by reputable iGaming Trainers with experience in both iGaming and as iGaming Academy Trainers.

This module outlines the various jurisdictional requirements for a licensed operator in the area of Responsible Gaming and Player protection. Also touches on planning and best solutions for staff training and on-going support to players that have issues.

This workshop will focus on an advanced understanding of Anti-Fraud. It will cover techniques that should be implemented within every company in order to ensure a successful and effective fraud management strategy. The Anti-Money Laundering workshop will cover essential information about Anti-Money Laundering legislation, and how regulation is reflecting this. The focus of the session will be the EU 4th AML Directive and the risk based approach and how this is likely to be implemented by various members states and the relevant regulatory bodies such as the UKGC and the MGA.

Meet our industry experts


Josh O'Cock

Josh has worked in Social Media Marketing since its inception. A University of Manchester graduate (BSc) in Management and IT and (MSc) in Information Systems, Josh has developed his own unique, inspiring approach to social media marketing. He has extensive experience in providing social media strategies – through consulting, managing and executing these strategies with a wide range of clients ranging from Casinos to bitcoin exchange companies.

 

Josh is currently the Managing Director of Malta based digital marketing agency, Growth Gurus. Trained in Manchester and New York, Josh is fully up-to-date with the latest and greatest tips in Social Media Marketing which he discusses during the iGaming Academy Social Media Marketing training course.

Heidi Lind Jensen

Heidi has an extensive background in marketing management with a strong emphasis on the creative and analytical aspects. She is the co-founder of a consultancy company which focus is to optimise marketing, strategy-building and positioning for different iGaming companies.

 

She has a flare for customer analysis, as well as basic psychological drivers, to build meaningful communication strategies that will lead to increased revenue. Heidi is a trainer at the iGaming Academy where she delivers the Customer Relationship Management training course.

Stephanie Grech

Stephanie currently occupies the role of Payouts and Risk Department Manager with AspireGlobal – a top platform provider offering a total “all-in-one” solution for online gaming operators.

 

She been in the iGaming industry for over 7 years with her main focus in fraud prevention and risk assessment. She has combined the knowledge gained through the years with innovative ideas leading to a thriving career in this sector. She upholds a simple and direct work ethic.

Wendy Zitzman

Wendy Zitzman has worked in a fraud, payments and compliance capacity across the digital sector since early 2003. In 2008 she made the switch into iGaming and since then, has worked in several international companies.

 

Wendy is currently an independent consultant advising on issues related to fraud, risk management, and operational compliance in the iGaming industry. Having amassed a wealth of experience and knowledge in the management of fraud and related regulatory and legal requirements, Wendy is also an experienced trainer and delivers the iGaming Academy’s Anti- Money Laundering training course.

Sarah Psaila

Sarah has over 10 years  experience in iGaming and has enjoyed senior marketing and affiliate management roles with some of the leading operators in the field including Betsafe, Tipico and Garbo at Mr Green. Currently Sarah is working as a Marketing and Affiliate Consultant for a number of leading Igaming operators in Malta.

 

Her academic studies combined with the wealth of experience she has gained in the field over the past 10 years now allows her to deliver successful training programs specifically related to Affiliate Marketing Management, which she shares during the iGaming Academy Affiliate Management training course.

Maris Bonello

Maris Bonello currently occupies the role of Integrity Analytics Manager at Unibet.  She started as a Risk and Fraud Analyst with Unibet and after receiving her MSc in Occupational Psychology from the University of Leicester, took on the role of Responsible Gaming Manager.  She has a Diploma in Gambling Addiction Counselling and Psychology, and is now reading for her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Mark Griffiths, focusing primarily on the analysis of the early signs of online problem gambling, responsible gaming tools and responsible gaming promotion.

 

Whilst recapitulating research for her role, she has started an innovative detection tool with Unibet, known as PS-EDS (Player Safety – Early Detection System).  This has shown an impressive advantage in the company both from a commercial perspective and also internally addressing Corporate Social Responsibility. This same PS-EDS has won the EGr Innovation of the Year award in 2014. Unibet has also won RG awards including the IGA Socially Responsible Operator award and the EGR Nordics Socially Responsible Operator award.

Valéry Bollier

Valéry Bollier has over eleven years of experience in the iGaming industry.

 

He is a regular speaker at industry conferences and seminars, as well as a contributor to various BtoB publications. Equipped with a passion for Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) and ”Big Data”, Bollier is the co-founder and CEO of Oulala, a revolutionary fantasy football game which was launched three years ago.

Chris Naudi

Chris learnt his trade with one of the first Sportsbooks to come to Malta in 2004 – Heathorns International. After a brief stint in London with Premierbet, he came back and spent 5 years as Head of Trading at GVC. Today, Chris is Sportsbook Manager at Hero Gaming and working on launching a ‘revolutionary Sports Betting experience’ at Betser.com. Chris is highly passionate about anything igaming related and in his free time loves nothing more than a game of poker and researching betting opportunities.

 

Chris has been involved with the iGaming Academy both locally and abroad since 2007 and has delivered over 100 training sessions in the past 10 years. He currently delivers the flagship ‘Introduction to iGaming Course’, as well as the ‘Sportsbook Management’ session and has helped numerous igaming companies in Malta with training needs.

Igor Samardziski

Igor Samardziski is the founder and CEO of Nexus Gaming Intelligence and is a renowned consultant on Gaming Product Intelligence.

A veteran of the gaming industry, Igor has held positions with some of the biggest providers of gaming products today and in 2013, Igor was the recipient of the iGaming Representative of the Year award.

Igor is a highly proficient individual specializing in gaming systems, start-up, operations and efficiency of Online Gaming and E-commerce business models, by expanding product verticals in new and existing businesses. Igor is highly knowledgeable in every area of an online gaming operation such as Fraud, AMLO, Bonus Abuse and Advantage Play from both in-depth function perspective as well as management of resource and KPI’s with focus on Customer Service & Operations resource management.

Russell Mifsud

Russell is a Senior Manager at KPMG and focuses exclusively on the Gaming industries and Digital space. He strives to anticipate new trends on a global scale in order to best advise KPMG’s clientele about opportunities within the sector. Licensing, strategic initiatives, compliance, financing, M&As, D&A, disruptive technologies, affiliate marketing and gamification are some of the key areas that he specialises in.

Michele Magro

Michele has been part of the Malta Gaming Authority’s legal team for over four years, and occupies the position of Senior Legal Advisor. His main areas of work include providing advice on matters relating to gaming regulation, general legal and EU affairs, other policy matters, and drafting legislation. Michele graduated as a lawyer from the University of Malta in 2014 after defending his thesis entitled ‘The Protection of the Consumer in the Remote Gaming Industry’. He was subsequently admitted to the bar in 2015.

Thomas Mahoney

Throughout his career, Thomas has worked in various areas within the online gaming industry with particular focus on HR Projects, Marketing & Social Media.

Over the past 7 years he combined his two passionate areas of work and went on to build one of the strongest and most effective Employer Brands (Tipico Careers) within the online gaming industry in Malta.

Whilst encompassing the macro-environments of both working areas, Thomas’ vision of employer branding was very clear; to set up an effective marketing component within an HR framework in order to attract the best local and international talent towards the company whilst also building an internal employer brand focusing on investing in employees, enhancing employee satisfaction and increasing engagement.

Thomas has recently joined the Malta Gaming Authority as Director of the European Gaming Institute of Malta (EGIM) to launch in H1, 2017. When launched, EGIM will be a separate entity from the Malta Gaming Authority.

Alan Alden

Alan Alden began his career in 1979 in the banking sector and later developed into an Information Systems Auditor leading the bank’s IT Audit section up to 2000. He then joined Deloitte to set up and run Enterprise Risk Services department. In that same year Alan began assisting and advising the first remote sportsbetting companies to come to Malta, and continued to specialise in the industry. In 2006 Alan set up Kyte Consultants Ltd, a company that specialised in the remote gaming and payment card sectors, to assist companies setup and operate from Malta. In 2009, Alan became a founding director in Contact Advisory Services Ltd, a licensed Company Service Provider (CSP) that offers a complete service to its customers, from company incorporation, to licensing for gaming and financial institutions.

During his illustrious career, Alan was the founding President of the ISACA Malta Chapter between 2005 -2008; he also served as the General Secretary of the Malta Remote Gaming Council from 2010 to the present day. In 2015, Alan became a Visiting Senior Lecturer on IT Auditing at the University of Malta and continues to pass his knowledge to students that are seeking a career in the Information Security and Regulatory Compliance industry. Alan is a certified CISSP, QSA and CISA.

Tal Itzhak Ron

Advocate and Notary Tal Itzhak Ron (M.Sc.) – a General Member of International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL), practicing i-Gaming and Financial Entertainment. Tal graduated from Haifa University School of Law (LL.B.) and Faculty of Computer Science (B.Sc.), and while working as a software developer at a publicly-traded software company, Ness Technologies has further obtained a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Bar Ilan University. Tal established Tal Ron, Drihem & Co., Law Firm back in 2003, focusing from the start on Hi Tech, Ad Tech, M&A, Financial Entertainment and iGaming industries, quickly becoming one of the first international firms practicing solely on these areas. The firm today advises the world leading operators, platforms and governing bodies and is considered the first point of contact for entrepreneurs setting up businesses in the iGaming, Affiliate Marketing, Forex and Binary Options industries.
